IEM Cologne - Official Trailer -

Commercial trailer work with a production-focused FX workflow and tool-assisted setup support.

I contributed as a Houdini artist to this cinematic trailer for ESL, working on FX elements such as lightning strikes, energy curves, and RBD simulations.

Breakdown

Shot Work

For this project, I worked on several FX elements directly in Houdini, including rock interaction, energy curves, sparks, RBD simulation, FLIP simulation, and smoke. I also handled gun and rock animation where the shot required additional support for timing and integration.

Lightning HDA Development

I developed a Houdini lightning HDA for this sequence to support two related effects: a surface-traveling lightning treatment across the character body, and a secondary strike connecting the body to the ground. The setup was designed to stay flexible enough for shot-level adjustment while remaining practical for production use.

Additional Notes

Responsible for FX work, including simulation, setup, and gun animation. Character and environment assets were provided.
